After five weeks of the Covid-19 lockdown of the capital city of Abuja, Lagos and Ogun state, restrictions on movement have finally been eased.
For those who rely on going out daily to make money (and they’re many), the need for safety through hunkering down was matched by the desperation to venture out to earn a living and stave off hunger.
Many people celebrated the president’s announcement of the reopening.
However, with the number of new cases of the virus and deaths mounting frighteningly, only time will tell if this is a Pyrrhic victory in which the losses from the bid to return to normalcy outstrip the gains.
